Georges-Kevin NKoudou has a future at Tottenham and they want him back next season, according to Football London.

Spurs announced on Tuesday that the French winger, 22, has agreed a loan move to Burnley that runs until the end of the season.

Football London report that there is no option integrated into the loan to make the transfer a permanent one in the summer in a clear indication that Tottenham want him to be a member of the first-team squad again next season.

It is said that Mauricio Pochettino’s are hopeful that NKoudou will play regularly for Sean Dyche’s side and get Premier League experience, something he has been unable to accumulate at his parent club.

The speedy wide man signed for Spurs from Marseille in the summer of 2016 but most of his 23 appearances across all competitions for the Londoners have come as a substitute.

NKoudou has played just six times this season and has not once been named in the starting line-up despite long-term absences for the likes of Erik Lamela, Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama.

OPINION

It is something of a shock that Tottenham still have big plans for NKoudou, the wide boy who has failed to look anywhere near the standard required of a Champions League-calibre player since his move to Tottenham. The former France Under-21 international has struggled to cope with the physical demands and his pace and dribbling ability have not been enough to compensate. Dyche has a habit of turning water into wine with waifs, strays and unwanted players from other clubs, and it will benefit all parties if the Burnley boss is able to lick the speed machine into shape in the coming months. Spurs clearly believe that NKoudou is not a lost cause, and can return to White Hart Lane next season a far more rounded and Premier League-ready player.
