Tottenham Hotspur best possible XI v Newport

|

Michel Vorm (Goalkeeper) – First-choice and club captain Hugo Lloris missed out against Southampton through illness, and Vorm impressed in his place. The Dutchman must keep his place in this FA Cup tie. Retains his place.

Kieran Trippier (Right-back) – Kieran Trippier was decent against Wimbledon, and was involved in the build-up to Kane’s opener, but he has seemingly been ousted as Spurs’ number one right-back by Serge Aurier. Trippier must however be given another chance to impress v Newport, especially after Aurier became an injury worry against Southampton. Trippier for Aurier.

Davinson Sanchez (Centre-back) – The young Colombian has had a few shaky moments since his return from a red card suspension in December, and his own goal against the Saints is the biggest blow yet. However, he must still play against Newport as Jan Vertonghen needs a rest. Retains his place.

Juan Foyth (Centre-back) – Foyth played in Spurs’ third-round clash with Wimbledon, and impressed again with his poise on the ball. Must be given a chance once again v Newport. Foyth for Vertonghen.

Kyle Walker-Peters (Left-back) – Walker-Peters can count himself unlucky after his MOTM performance on the Premier League opening day v Newcastle. The acquisition of Aurier has shunted him down to third-choice right-back, but he has been given a chance on the left on a couple of occasions. Played last time in the Cup v Wimbledon, and must be trusted again. Walker-Peters for Ben Davies.
