OPINION

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Rodney Parade to take on League Two minnows Newport County in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday, and Mauricio Pochettino must trust his youngsters to get the job done.

Spurs paved their passage into the last-32 with a comfortable 3-0 win over League One AFC Wimbledon, with Harry Kane scoring a double before Jan Vertonghen scored for the first time since 2013 with a deflected long-range strike.

Newport, who sit in eighth in the fourth tier, secured their place in the fourth round with arguably the result of the competition so far as they beat Championship play-off chasers Leeds United 2-1 at home.

The Exiles went a goal down early to a Gaetano Berardi effort, but an own goal and a last-minute header from Shawn McCoulsky led them to a famous come-from-behind victory.

They have now been handed another home tie, but this time of bigger proportions, with Premier League giants Tottenham to grace the 8,700 capacity Rodney Parade.

Pochettino decided to go with a pretty strong starting XI last time out v Wimbledon, with Juan Foyth and Kyle Walker-Peters the only fringe players to get a start.

The Argentine mastermind must trust in more of his fringe youngsters this time round, with a midweek Premier League clash with Manchester United followed by a weekend visit to Liverpool.
