Tottenham fans have shared their frustration on social media, after a report revealed they were dropping out of the race for attacker Malcom.
The Daily Mail reported that Spurs were ready to prioritise other targets as Bordeaux want £45million for the winger.
The news did not go down well with Spurs fans, especially as the report stated it cleared the way for bitter north London rivals Arsenal to sign him.
One fan sarcastically tweeted that they looked forward to him lighting it up down the road.
Brazilian news outlet Esporte had previously reported that Spurs had made a £31million bid for Malcom, only to have it instantly rejected.
This means their valuation was £14million lower than that of Bordeaux, with the Daily Mail suggesting the difference was enough to end the possibility of a deal.
Several supporters instantly believed the story, with one fan stating “same old Tottenham” while another simply said “so typical.”
The Brazilian winger has made 21 appearances for Bordeaux this season and has gained Premier League interest through his impressive performances.
Malcom has grabbed seven goals and five assists so far, with all but one assist coming in the league to help Bordeaux sit 15th in Ligue 1.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
Did we actually think that Bordeaux would let #Malcom leave for anything less than 45 – 50 mil in January?
Why even show interest in such a player if we’re not willing to go head-2-head with any other top club. Confusing strategy.#thfc #thfc transfer #coys @SpursOfficial— ?????? (@MatMob) January 12, 2018

Imagine my shock – look forward to seeing him light it up down the road…
