Tottenham fans took to Twitter to lay into Davinson Sanchez for his performance in their side’s 2-0 Premier League win at Swansea City on Tuesday night.
The centre-back lined up in the back four alongside Jan Vertonghen, Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier as Spurs kept a clean sheet in atrocious conditions at the Liberty Stadium.
Fernando Llorente’s first goal for Tottenham and a late Dele Alli strike secured a third successive league win for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and inflicted a first defeat for Swansea under new manager Carlos Carvalhal as the Welsh club stayed at the foot of the table, four points adrift of safety.
Spurs overtook Arsenal as they climbed to fifth place in the Premier League table, four adrift of Liverpool in the final Champions League position.
One of the major talking points was the display from summer signing Sanchez, who had already been booked when he clattered Martin Olsson but was not shown a second yellow card by referee Bobby Madley.
That contentious decision fuelled a fiery atmosphere among the home supporters, and even Spurs fans admitted the Colombia international was lucky not to get sent off.
A large section took to social media to urge Sanchez to be less reckless in his challenging and many called for him to be withdrawn even before Pochettino hooked him at the 59-minute mark and brought on Victor Wanyama.

Sanchez could be sent off any minute. Best bring on Aurier, who is a calm, collected individual. #COYS
