Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to destroy Kieran Trippier for his performance in their 1-1 FA Cup draw against Newport County on Saturday.
Spurs survived a scare to secure a replay at Wembley after Harry Kane’s late goal prevented what would have been the cup upset of the season at the hands of the League Two minnows.
Trippier was included in a strong starting XI selected by Mauricio Pochettino as he got the nod to start at right wing-back in the 3-5-2 formation chose for the match at Rodney Parade.
But it was not a happy occasion for the 27-year-old for the former Burnley player, who was at fault as Padraig Amond gave the home side a shock lead with a first-half header.
Trippier went on to play the full 90 minutes as Spurs took the match to a replay but this was a major embarrassment narrowly avoided against a team who only preserved their Football League status with victory on the final day of last season.
Tottenham fans on social media were highly critical of the performance of the England international, with some calling for him to be sold.
