Tottenham Hotspur have made enquiries about Hamburg’s 18-year-old wonderkid Jann-Fiete Arp, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper report that Spurs are looking for a wide attacker, a long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele, and a young striker in the coming windows.

The Mirror claim that Tottenham have already moved to sign a young forward by making contact about Hamburg sensation Arp, who has just turned 18.

Arp has made nine senior appearances this term for the Bundesliga strugglers, scoring twice.

He broke onto the scene during the Under-17 European Championships last summer, scoring seven goals as Germany made the semi-finals, becoming the first player to score two hat-tricks in the same tournament at that level.

Good move for Tottenham Hotspur?

This would be an exciting move from Spurs to secure one of Europe’s most-coveted teenagers.

Arp seriously impressed for Germany at the Under-17 Euros, scoring all manner of goals as he led his team to the semi-finals.

He has carried that into his first season of senior football, although it will take more time for him to adjust to the rigours of the Bundesliga.

With Mauricio Pochettino so skilled at developing young players, this could be a stunning move for Spurs.

Likely to happen?

This one could depend on several things.

Firstly, whether Hamburg get relegated. If they do, then a move away for Arp is more likely.

Secondly, how much competition there will be for his signature. Tottenham look to be leading the pack at the moment, but that could change come the summer.

Thirdly, how much Hamburg demand for Arp. Tottenham will be willing to pay a good price for Arp, but Daniel Levy will not pay an excessive fee for the 18-year-old.
