Tottenham are hopeful of completing the signing of Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain by Sunday night, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the London club have made significant progress in their bid to seal the capture of the wide forward for a fee of around £22million.

The Mirror report that the winger is keen to move to Tottenham and talks over a potential deal are at an advanced stage after he was given a tour of the club’s Enfield training headquarters.

Moura has confirmed he is unhappy at the Parc des Princes after struggling to hold down a place in the first team this season.

He has made only six appearances for PSG this season and it has been widely reported that the runaway Ligue 1 leaders want to sell him permanently this month rather than negotiate a loan deal.

Good move for Tottenham?

Yes, definitely. Armed with 35 Brazil caps and a fine record at PSG and Sao Paulo, Moura is an attacking player who could be a devastating weapon for Tottenham. He would add genuine pace and trickery and the capacity for the unexpected, something Spurs lack when they struggle to break teams down. Aged 25, he has his best years ahead of him and would be a stunning January signing. In another major plus, he would be available for their Champions League last-16 clash against Juventus as he has not yet played in the competition this season.

Likely to happen?

Despite the intense competition for Moura’s services – with Real Betis and a few Italian clubs also credited with a strong interest – it appears Spurs are close to pushing this deal over the finish line. The widespread reports, and the Mirror’s confidence a deal can be done in the next few hours, means it would now be a surprise if he is not soon announced as a Tottenham player.
