Aston Villa are looking likely to secure the signing of Manchester United youngster Axel Tuanzebe on loan, according to a reliable journalist.

Dean Jones, who writes for the Bleacher Report, claimed on Twitter on Friday afternoon that versatile centre-back Tuanzebe is set to join Villa on loan from the Premier League giants.

Tuanzebe has been in the Manchester United youth system since the age of eight, and has gone on to make eight senior appearances so far.

The enforcer has made three appearances for the first-team this season, once in the Premier League, once in the Champions League, and played 90 minutes as they beat Swansea 2-0 in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.

He is a centre-back by trade, but can also play at wing-back and further forward on the flanks.

Good move for Aston Villa?

This would be a solid move for Villa.

Tuanzebe has shown during his time in the United first team that he is an exciting prospect, and is ready for more first-team responsibility.

However, it also seems a strange one in many ways with Villa having a lot of defensive cover.

It looks as though Steve Bruce needs to focus on bringing in attacking players this window, but Tuanzebe will provide some good competition for their back line.

Likely to happen?

According to Jones, this one looks close to completion.

But this is the first anyone seems to have heard of this transfer, so it is hard to say at this moment.
