Liverpool are chasing Atalanta forward Alejandro Papu Gomez as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, according to La Nacion.
The Argentine newspaper report that Gomez would cost the Reds £53million, with Atalanta not willing to sell unless an offer came in that they could not refuse.
La Nacion claim that Klopp wants to sign a like-for-like replacement for the departed Coutinho, and Gomez is one of several targets in mind.
The 29-year-old Argentina international has scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 25 appearances in all competitions for Serie A outfit Atalanta this term.
Good move for Liverpool?
Not particularly.
Gomez is a good player, and has earned four caps for Argentina, but he is not a shade on Coutinho.
And for £53million?
The Reds would be much better served looking elsewhere.

Likely to happen?
Thankfully for Reds fans, no.
This looks like a fanciful report from the Argentine press, and it is highly unlikely that Liverpool would pay £53million for Gomez.
