Juventus are preparing to pounce on Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil if Manchester Untied fail in their pursuit of the contract rebel, according to Corriere Dello Sport.

The newspaper claim that the Italian giants are monitoring Ozil’s situation as he’s yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners despite it expiring in the summer.

Corriere Dello Sport report that Juventus will only move for the midfielder if the conditions are economically ideal, which leaves Manchester United still winning the race for his signature.

The same report believes the Italian giants will not compete with Man United if they choose to submit a £35million bid for Ozil.

Juventus are believed to think that having Sami Khedira in their team, who is a friend of Ozil, may help them secure his signature.

Good move for Arsenal?

No. The report makes it seem like Juventus are only willing to move for the creative midfielder once he’s available for free, which is the worst case scenario for the Gunners.

If Ozil is to leave Arsenal then ideally Manchester United stumping up the cash to secure him in January is the better option, even if they’re Premier League rivals.

Likely to happen?

As time ticks down on Ozil’s contract and days pass in the January transfer window, the chances of a top European club swooping down and getting Ozil for free becomes more likely.

Juventus will no doubt be among a host of clubs to swarm on Ozil if he becomes a free-agent and given Khedira presence, they may have the edge.
