Daniel Sturridge has informed Liverpool’s hierarchy that he wants a move to Sevilla, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the 28-year-old forward has urged the Reds to open talks with the La Liga side in order to reach an agreement.

The Daily Mirror report that Liverpool have already rejected a loan request from Sevilla, as they would only consider an offer with an option to buy attached.

The same report claims that it was previously assumed Sturridge would join Inter Milan, as they’re close to submitting an offer which guarantees the Reds a transfer fee at the end of a loan move.

Liverpool are determined to get £25million for the 28-year-old, with Jurgen Klopp willing to let the forward go, on the condition that any funds raised go towards signing a replacement in the summer.

The centre-forward signed for roughly £12million in January 2013 from Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

Sturridge went on to score 64 goals, while creating 24, in 133 appearances for the club.

Good move for Liverpool?

Not really. Sevilla have shown no intention that they want to splash the cash on Sturridge as of yet.

The sixth-placed La Liga side are clearly interested in taking the forward on loan, but with the Reds determined to get £25million in the summer for him; it’s a big leap of faith for Sevilla to take.

The centre-forward leaving the Reds is disappointing, but he clearly doesn’t feature in Klopp’s plans for the second half of the season.

So from that perspective, if giving into Sturridge’s wish, sees an exit sealed quicker, than the club might as well attempt to broker a deal with Sevilla.

Likely to happen?

Sturridge wants to leave, Liverpool want him to; it’s just a case of whether Sevilla are the club to seal a deal.

The La Liga side have shown interest in a temporary move, so it’s unknown whether they want the forward permanently at their club.

With Inter Milan close to an agreement, if Sevilla aren’t keen then Sturridge will no doubt give up on his demand and just ensure he moves somewhere in order to get playing time.
