Middlesbrough are set to open talks to sign Mo Besic on loan from Everton before the window closes on Wednesday, according to TeamTalk.

The website claim that the Championship club want to add the midfielder to their squad after selling Adam Forshaw to Leeds United for £4million earlier in the window.

TeamTalk report that Sam Allardyce is ready to sanction a move to see the 25-year-old leave the club as he has only played 46 minutes of Premier League action this season.

Besic was last seen in the Premier League in the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea back in August.

The defensive midfielder, who can also play as a centre-back, has been at Everton since 2014 and has made 58 appearances for the club.

Good move for Everton?

Yes. The 25-year-old has hardly set the world alight in his four-year-spell at the club, and is completely surplus to requirements this season.

If the midfielder could kick-start his career in the second half of the season, Everton may be able to sell him for a respectable fee in the summer.

Middlesbrough are currently chasing promotion as they sit eighth, four points off the play-off positions, so Besic would gain a lot of attention if he successfully helps them with their cause.

Likely to happen?

Yes. Despite it being late in the window, this looks like an easy deal to complete.

Allardyce will be keen to get rid of someone that doesn’t feature in his plans, even if it’s only temporarily, and Tony Pulis is clearly keen to add to his Middlesbrough squad.

Besic should also be keen to get his career back on track by playing regular football.
