Michy Batshuayi has personally rejected the option of joining Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan from Chelsea, according to a reliable journalist.

Mohamed Bouhafsi, who is the football editor for French broadcaster RMC Sport, has reported on his personal Twitter account that Spurs have tabled a loan offer for the centre-forward to Chelsea.

However, a deal did not get off the ground as it was rejected outright by Batshuayi, who said he did not want to join Tottenham.

The tweet translates: “Tottenham made an offer to Chelsea to take Michy Batshuayi on loan. This was refused as the player does not want to join Spurs.”

This comes after a BBC journalist claimed that Tottenham had held talks over a late swap deal for Fernando Llorente and Batshuayi.

BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein claimed on his personal Twitter account on Monday night a complicated transfer merry-go-round had culminated in the last-gasp talks but that nothing had come of them.

Good move for Tottenham?

Definitely. Batshuayi might not be Antonio Conte’s cup of tea but he is a penalty box predator with a point to prove. His goals-per-minute ratio this season is very impressive and he has accumulated 10 goals in 25 senior games across all competitions, although eight of those have come in cups. Replacing Llorente with Batshuayi would be a brilliant piece of business from Spurs.

Likely to happen?

This is not expected to happen now, as Batshuayi is tired of playing second fiddle to A-list strikers, and would end up behind an even better front man in Harry Kane if he pitched up at White Hart Lane. Tottenham were close to sign Batshuayi in the summer of 2016 before he completed a £33million move to Chelsea.
