Leeds United have been installed as the favourites to sign Celtic centre-forward Moussa Dembele before the close of the January transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

Labrokes have priced Thomas Christiansen’s side as the 9/2 frontrunners to land the 21-year-old from the Scottish top-flight league leaders.

Meanwhile, Premier League clubs such as Crystal Palace (6/1), Newcastle (8/1) and Brighton (10/1) trail them in the market.

The Sun have previously reported that Palace had enquired about Celtic’s striker in January, but that Brendan Rodgers’ side were keen to keep hold of him.

Dembele’s future at Parkhead has been very much up in the air and there are just two days left in the January window for Celtic to try keep him.

Meanwhile, Leeds’ hunt for a new centre-forward has been well documented this month, but as of yet the Yorkshire giants are yet to reinforce that area.

Dembele is developing into a rising star in Scotland and has 40 goals during his 71 appearances for Celtic.

OPINION

Dembele is an extremely talented youngster that is being tipped for greatness in the future and it would be an incredible feat if Leeds were to pull off a deal for his signature. He would certainly be the striker that the Whites have been looking for and they could definitely shoot into the play-off positions this season with him. However, it seems very unrealistic that the Leeds would be manage to secure the Frenchman late in the window despite being installed favourites by bookmakers. Leeds may have to rely on Pierre-Michel Lasogga to get the job done in attack and that will start on Tuesday night with the league trip to Hull.
