Three things learned about Arsenal after Chelsea draw

|

Serious midfield concerns

The most worrying sight for Arsenal fans on the night was not their former favourite Cesc Fabregas almost burying a header, but their current favourite Jack Wilshere limping off injured once again. The midfield general has been in fine form for the Gunners recently, and you could easily go as far as saying he has been their best player for several games now. It looked for all the world as though the 26-year-old had overcome those troublesome ankle issues that had dogged him for so many years, as he easily came through his 20 appearances so far this campaign. However, Arsenal’s worst fears may have been realised once again as Wilshere came off second best in a freak accident. The midfielder stretched to block a Danny Drinkwater pass, which struck him on the foot and twisted his ankle in the process. He attempted to continue after treatment but was eventually withdrawn several minutes later. Hopefully this latest setback is just a minor one, but if it isn’t then Arsenal are seriously short in midfield. It has been confirmed that Francis Coquelin has completed a move to Valencia, which leaves Arsene Wenger clutching at straws in midfield, with just Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka as fit senior players. A big worry for the Gunners.
