Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge to face London rivals Chelsea in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday evening, and Arsene Wenger is expected to make wholesale changes from the side that fell to a shock 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

A stunning double from right-back Eric Lichaj and two penalties were enough to seal a famous win for a Forest side who were yet to have a new permanent boss, as holders Arsenal crashed out in the third round.

The Gunners will be hoping to put the disappointment of that defeat behind them quickly as they face a much sterner test against the Blues, who also failed to impress with a 0-0 draw against Norwich City.

The two teams met recently in the Premier League, with Hector Bellerin rescuing a point for Arsenal with a 92nd minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw just six days ago at the Emirates.

Wenger brought several young players into the starting lineup against Forest, but is expected to revert to a full-strength team as he seeks another trophy that could be the difference between life and death for the 68-year-old.

The Frenchman has managed to keep hold of his position at the Gunners through continuous silverware in recent years, namely three FA Cups in four seasons.

He will hope to add another trophy to his collection by winning through against the Blues, and is expected to make nine changes to the side that fell to Forest.
