Henri Saivet completed 90 minutes on Sunday afternoon in the defeat away to Chelsea – and the Newcastle United fans on Twitter were extremely critical of his display.
The central midfielder has been on the fringes of the squad this campaign and Sunday was just his fourth senior appearance of the season.
He was unable to prevent his side suffering a 3-0 loss against Chelsea as they were dumped out of the FA Cup in the fourth round.
Michy Batshuayi took the game away from the visitors in the first-half with his brace, while Marcos Alonso got on the scoresheet in the second-half with a long-range free-kick.
Rafael Benitez’s side now have the Premier League as their only focus as they look to steer away from a relegation battle.
Newcastle fans on social media were not impressed with Saivet as he got a rare chance to to feature in the first team.
The 27-year-old lined up alongside Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey in the heart of the midfield, but they were unable to assert their dominance against Chelsea.
French outlet L’Equipe has previously reported that Newcastle were in talks with Montpellier about loaning them Saivet, but the clock is ticking until Wednesday’s deadline cut-off point.
