Aston Villa are set to complete the loan signing of Manchester United youngster Axel Tuanzebe today (Thursday), according to the Express and Star.

The newspaper claim that a deal has been agreed which will see the 20-year-old defender spend the remainder of the season at Villa Park.

The Express and Star report that the deal will be finalised on Thursday, with the departure of Ritchie De Laet to Royal Antwerp freeing up space in the squad.

Tuanzebe will become Villa’s first signing of the January window, and will join Sam Johnstone as the second Old Trafford loanee at the club.

Good move for Villa?

Absolutely.

Tuanzebe has shown during his few senior appearances that he has a bright future, and Villa will be the perfect place for him to gain some more first-team experience.

The youngster has great versatility, being able to play at centre-back, right-back and on the wing, and that will be a massive asset for Steve Bruce as Villa seek promotion back to the Premier League.

Likely to happen?

As reported, this one looks close.

The move has been on the cards for days, but it was unsure whether Jose Mourinho would sanction the move.

It looks as though he now has allowed Tuanzebe to leave in search of minutes, and Villa will be the beneficiaries.
