Leeds United striker Mallik Wilks has joined Grimsby Town on loan – and fans of both clubs have hailed him as someone who could rip it up for the rest of the season.
The 19-year-old had been the subject of interest from a number of teams in the January window after scoring five goals in a successful loan at Acrrington Stanley in the first half of the campaign.
But League Two outfit Grimsby edged the likes of Carlisle and Chesterfield in the race for the teenager, who is a product of the Leeds academy and is highly regarded by his parent club.

Wilks has made only one substitute appearance for the senior Leeds team but he has made impressive strides in the subsequent 12 months as he gains crucial first-team experience in the lower leagues.
Some United fans are miffed that their club have decided to loan out a player who has a fine scoring track record at all the levels he has played.
Others took to social media to make it clear that Grimsby have signed a major asset who will deliver the goods if he is given opportunities, variously describing Wilks as a “top finisher” and “great signing”.

I don’t get why Leeds have loan out Mallik Wilks if they aren’t going to sign a striker.. He’s a very good young player & would have liked to have seen him get his chance #lufc #mot

If Carlisle still need a striker after missing out on Wilks then send them Sarkic he’d do well there #lufc

Why is everyone crying for a new striker, when we have 0 goalkeepers?
