Leeds United have agreed to sign striker Sam Dalby from Leyton Orient and he is set to undergo a medical tomorrow (Tuesday), according to Football Insider.

The football news site claim that the Yorkshire giants are putting the finishing touches to a “whirlwind transfer” of the rising star.

Football Insider report that Dalby, 18, has agreed the terms of a two-and-a-half year contract and is set to put pen to paper in the next 24 hours if he completes the formalities of medical tests scheduled for tomorrow.

It is said that Leeds have beaten a number of clubs to the signature of the centre-forward, who had a trial at Crystal Palace earlier in the season.

Dalby is expected to initially link up with Leeds’ Under-23s squad with a view to developing into a first-team regular in Thomas Christensen’s plans at Elland Road.

Good move for Leeds?

Yes. Some will sniffily view Dalby as yet another signing to add to the legions already in place in the club’s Under-23s. But Dalby is a genuine star in the making. Standing at 6ft 2in, he is a strapping front man who broke into the Orient team last season aged 17 and scored on his full debut against Crawley. His appearances have been strictly rationed this season to protect him, but it is a measure of his calibre that he trialled for Palace earlier this season and has been targeted by the Championship big hitters as well as plenty of others in the Football League. Interestingly, he could jump straight into the first team reckoning if he makes a big impact at Elland Road.

Likely to happen?

Football Insider has emerged as an outstanding source of football and transfer news. Given that the site broke the Forshaw interest last week, it is surely only a matter of time before Dalby is unveiled as a Leeds player.
