Leeds United have agreed a fee in excess of £2million for Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Forshaw, according to Sky Sports

The broadcaster report that the 26-year-old midfielder is now set for a medical at Elland Road after the two promotion rivals agreed a deal.

Sky claim that Cardiff City also showed interest in Forshaw but ended their pursuit after they signed Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic on loan this morning.

It is said that new Boro manager Tony Pulis sanctioned the sale of Forshaw, who has been out of favour at the Riverside since the Welshman took over.

As reported on Twitter by Phil Hay, chief football writer at the Yorkshire Evening Post, Forshaw’s medical has been scheduled for tomorrow morning:

Forshaw made 35 appearances last year as Middlesbrough were relegated from the Premier League.

Good move for Leeds United?

This is a solid signing for Leeds.

The Whites have gaping holes in central midfield with Ronaldo Vieira struggling with injury and Eunan O’Kane set for a three-match ban, and Forshaw will help provide that cover.

The 26-year-old has great experience in both the Championship and the Premier League, and Leeds will be hoping he can help them to that elusive promotion back to the promised land.

Likely to happen?

This deal looks like it is completed.

Forshaw is set for a medical at Elland Road, and should pass that with no hitches.

Expect an announcement tomorrow.
