Championship side Preston are reportedly close to securing a deal for Liverpool winger Harry Wilson in January, but Rangers should plot a late move to hijack it.

The Sun report that Preston are in pole position to land the 20-year-old attacker in the New Year when the transfer window re-opens.

It is understood that the Premier League giants are allowing their youngster to go out on loan to obtain valuable first-team experience after impressing at youth level.

Rangers should look to nudge Preston aside to try bring him to Ibrox and there is every chance they could offer him a better chance of senior football.

The Gers’ director of football Mark Allen needs to be smart in the upcoming transfer market and looking to land a loan star for the second half of the season could be a strong idea.

Upcoming Liverpool sensation Wilson could be a brilliant acquisitor for the Light Blues and he seriously has the potential to set Ibrox alight if he settles quickly.

The Wales Under-21 international has made a name for himself in Liverpool’s youth team as a fleet-footed winger that has an eye for goal.??He has made 10 appearances for the Under-23s side and managed an impressive nine goals in return.

Wilson is a versatile winger that can play anywhere across the frontline and is being tipped by the Anfield faithful to become a future first teamer for them.

Rangers could do with some reinforcements in January in wide areas given the form of Daniel Candeias, while Josh Windass can’t be relied on to deliver the goods every game.

The Gers need to improve their squad if they can to set them up for the rest of the campaign and some added quality out wide should really boost them.

Wilson has long been spoken about as the next greatest thing at Liverpool and has made just one senior appearance, but a loan spell at Rangers could be the making of him as a player.
