Tottenham fans on Twitter have pleaded with their manager Mauricio Pochettino to start promising youngster Marcus Edwards in the upcoming Champions League clash.
Spurs host Apoel Nicosia on Wednesday night in the last of their Champions League group matches and have already booked their place in the last 16 of the competition.
The north London club have performed admirably on the European stage so far this campaign, but are currently going through a mini dip in form.
Pochettino’s team have just two points from their last four Premier League games and are currently sixth in the table.
They may have one eye on next weekend’s clash against Stoke in the league and the midweek clash with Cypriot minnows Apoel could be an opportunity to test out some fringe players.
Spurs fans on social media have pleaded that academy prospect Edewards gets an opportunity in the first team.
The 19-year-old attacker is renowned for being a skilful winger and his only senior appearance so far for the club came last season in the League Cup.

I don’t want to see Eriksen anywhere near Wembley. He needs to rest. Play Marcus Edwards instead

Why doesnt he give youth a chance? Sterling and Edwards would 100% help the squad ahead of sissoko and llorente

Apoel on Wed. provides a rare opportunity for Poch to rotate heavily. Edwards, Sterling, & Georgiou sprinkled in please. Foyth and Davies in a 3cb backline w/ Sanchez too. It's a great chance to freshen things up and try a few things out, #COYS #THFC

Edwards has been mentioned as the next superstar at Spurs at their academy that will breakthrough and even earned rave reviews from Pochettino at one point.
However, the English teenager has been unable as of yet to do enough to get promoted from the Under-23s side despite much noise around him from supporters.
The right-winger will hope that a senior call-up is just around the corner for him and Harry Winks is the most recent example of the academy stars to follow.
