Tottenham have made an enquiry to Barcelona about signing their forward sensation Luis Suarez, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish news outlet claims that Spurs have made contact about landing the 30-year-old amid fear they could lose their talisman Harry Kane in the future.

It is understood that Suarez is not willing to evaluate Spurs’ proposal despite the fact that Barcelona have been strongly linked wth a move for Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann next summer.

The report details that Suarez is willing to stay at the Camp Nou to fight for his starting position alongside Griezmann and he also has a great friendship with teammate Lionel Messi.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has lined up the Uruguay international as a potential replacement for Kane if he leaves, but it seems like a return to the Premier League is not on the cards for the ex-Liverpool centre-forward.

Good move for Spurs?

There is no doubt that Suarez would be an exceptional signing for Spurs if they were to pull it off and he is one of the most gifted strikers of the last decade.

Suarez proved during his time at Anfield that he is a perfect fit for English football with his pace and trickery, scoring 82 goals in 133 appearances for the Merseyside club.

He would score a hatful of goals if he was to return to the Premier League, but Spurs fans would surely not want the 30-year-old to come in on the basis that Kane left.

In an ideal situation the north London club would have the pair of them in the same team and that would have enough firepower to get them over the line in the hunt for silverware.

Likely to happen?

A Spurs swoop for Suarez appears to have come from fantasy land and it would be an unbelievable shock if he was to link up with Pochettino.

The striker may not be enjoying his best season so far with nine goals in 21 games, but he is settled in Spain and playing for one of the best teams in the world.
