Brighton eye Everton striker Niasse

Everton striker Oumar Niasse is being considered by Premier League rivals Brighton ahead of the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail

The newspaper claims on their transfer blog (4:16pm, Monday 18th) that Brighton are drawing up a shortlist of attackers, with Celtic’s Moussa Dembele being considered.

It is understood that Chris Hughton’s side are also lining up Toffees centre-forward Niasse, who has been struggling for minutes since Sam Allardyce’s arrival as manager at Goodison Park.

Everton reportedly rejected multiple bids from Brighton in the summer for the 27-year-old as they were holding out for £10million.

Good move for Everton?

Everton should once again block any attempts to sign Niasse in the New Year as he is an important player in the squad.

The Senegal international may currently be out of favour, but has already shown his importance this season and the attacking options are simply too thin.

Niasse has scored six goals in his 10 senior appearances this campaign and is a predatory striker that can make a real difference in front of goal.

He is currently behind teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the pecking order, but is certainly a useful option to have for the Merseyside club.

Likely to happen?

Allardyce has clearly not taken to Niasse since his arrival and he was omitted from the squad completely in the win over Swansea on Monday night.

The striker has endured a difficult spell with Everton, but has shown he is willing to fight it out for his place.

Brighton could reignite their interest in signing Niasse as they search for a new forward, but there is no clear indication as of yet that this deal could happen.
