Derek McInnes has delivered a sensational snub to Rangers and will remain as Aberdeen manager, according to STV.
The Scottish broadcaster revealed on their website and social media channels on Thursday evening that McInnes will not be joining the Glasgow giants.
STV report that Aberdeen had reluctantly given their consent for the 46-year-old to hold talks with Rangers after terms for a move were agreed between the clubs.
But it is said that talks between Rangers and McInnes “have since broken down” and he will be in charge of the Dons for their Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee on Friday night.

This comes after Aberdeen coach Paul Sheerin confirmed that McInnes’ future would be resolved one way or another today (Thursday).
“There will be a resolution on the manager sometime today and we’re preparing for the game tomorrow night,” Sheerin said at lunchtime on Thursday, as quoted by the official Aberdeen Twitter account.

OPINION
Just when the fat lady was about to clear her throat, Rangers’ manager search has taken a totally unexpected twist. Many thought that it was simply a matter of time as to when McInnes would be unveiled as the permanent successor to Pedro Caixinha following the Light Blues’ formal approach on Tuesday evening. McInnes’ absence from training two days in a row suggested he was simply dotting the ‘i’s and crossing the ‘t’s of the deal. But the sting in the tail has comes after talks between Rangers and the Dons boss failed to reach an agreement. Was it due to money? Transfer kitty? All will come out in the wash, but Rangers are back to square one in what is a another embarrassment for the club.
