Celtic fans took to Twitter to express their delight after West Brom and Republic of Ireland winger James McClean declared that he would do whatever it takes to move to the club in the future.

Derry-born McClean, 28, is a lifelong Hoops fan and an extremely popular character among the club’s support for his passionate following of the team on social media.

Celtic fans have consistently called for the club to try to lure McClean away from the Hawthorns, especially in light of his fringe role this season.

The West Brom wide man has confessed that it has been his career ambition to move to Parkhead after he was a spectator during the 2-1 win over Barcelona in the Champions League in 2012.

“I’m a Premier League footballer and leaving the ground that night, I was thinking I would give anything to play for Celtic,” he said to magazine the Celtic View, as shown by Celtic head of marketing Kerry Keenan on her personal Twitter account on Wednesday.

McClean has spent the season on the fringes of the West Brom side, with only three of his 16 appearances in all competitions coming as starts in the Premier League.

He was selected in the team for Wednesday night’s goalless draw against Liverpool at Anfield but it has been widely speculated that he could be sold in the January window.

The Telegraph has recently reported that West Brom are considering selling the 28-year-old in order to strengthen their squad elsewhere after Burnley had an £8million offer rejected for the wide man in the summer.

McClean’s huge admission has understandably caused a stampede of reactions from from Bhoys fans on Twitter who would love to see the Republic of Ireland international transfer to the club.
