Aberdeen fans took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction after Derek McInnes rejected the chance to become the new Rangers manager.
Aberdeen announced on their official media channels, including their Twitter account, on Thursday night that the 46-year-old is to remain in the post he has held at Pittodrie for the last four-and-a-half years.

McInnes had been the frontrunner to take over at Ibrox ever since Pedro Caixinha was axed six weeks ago to begin an extended spell of intense speculation that he was leaving the Dons.
Rangers made a formal move for their former midfielder on Tuesday night and he did not take Aberdeen first team training on either Wednesday or Thursday in what was interpreted as a clear signal he was moving to the Glasgow giants.
McInnes has helped Aberdeen punch above their weight during his reign and has established them as the second must successful team in Scotland.
But fans of the club are furious that their manager was prepared to talk to one of their biggest rivals and a section of them made it clear they would rather he just quit the club.

If that’s true then he’s already lost the trust of majority of fans, this has been an absolute shambles from the very start

I get what your saying, but speaking to Sunderland and speaking to our biggest rival is a bit different! Will be interesting to see what Derek says about it all. Need to put a performance on tomorrow night, that’s the most important thing.

He will need a speech writer to win most of us reds back

Would have been career suicide for McInnes.

There is some major explaining to do and a big rework job to get fans back on his side – the way derek and the club have handled this situation is nothing short of shambolic and embarassing for us fans
