Tottenham fans took to Twitter to call for Danny Rose to leave the club following his reaction to being substituted during their 3-0 Champions League victory over APOEL Nicosia on Wednesday night.
The left-back, 27, was recalled to the starting XI as manager Mauricio Pochettino made eight changes from the side that drew 1-1 at Watford on Saturday.
But Rose did not play the full match as he was withdrawn after 70 minutes following a heated exchange with Roland Sallai that ended with the defender sustaining a nasty cut to his left eyebrow that caused blood to run down his face.
After being sent off the pitch to have the cut checked, Rose was substituted three minutes later as he needed further treatment.
Rose reacted negatively to the substitution and stormed off down the tunnel, which prompted the cameras to focus on Pochettino, who appeared to give his left-back a glare.
The manager subsequently admitted the left-back was “frustrated” at being withdrawn in a Champions League match but insisted that he had no choice as Rose required medical attention.
The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United after infamously questioning Spurs’ ambition last summer and fans immediately took to Twitter to demand he leave the club.
