Graham Roberts has slaughtered the Tottenham players on Twitter after they fell to a huge 4-1 away defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League.

Spurs slumped to a heavy loss on Saturday evening at the Etihad Stadium and it ended their three-game winning run across all competitions in the process.

The north London club were outclassed on their visit to Manchester and it leaves them seventh in the league table.

Christian Eriksen netted a late consolation for the visitors in a game they struggled to threaten Man City’s goal, while individual errors cost them defensively.

Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne and a Raheem Sterling double were on the scoresheet for the hosts, while the latter also missed two opportunities at an open-goal.

Spurs legend Roberts, who regular offers his opinion on social media, believes that his former side were well below their usual standards.

Roberts usually finds positive in Spurs’ performances, but even he condemned every single player on the pitch for their efforts.

“Not often I say it about our side but that simply was not an acceptable performance and I am sure they and the manger know it. Even single one of them off there game today it was not one indidivudal we are a team all need to take responsibility,” Roberts wrote on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Spurs players should be disappointed with their efforts at the weekend and their brave approach to try press Man City never really materialised. They have struggled in big fixtures in recent years and that is perhaps the main factor that is holding them back from becoming an elite side. They are now down in a lowly seventh in the Premier League table and an in-form Burnley are even ahead of them in the standings. Pochettino should seriously consider making changes to his side moving forward to try freshen up the time as too many dipped against Man City. Erik Lamela is certainly a player that deserves to come into the side in the next game, which is now an important match against Sean Dyche’s Burnley.
