Thierry Henry insists that Tottenham will finish inside the top four of the Premier League this season after they demolished Southampton on Boxing Day.

Spurs managed to brush aside the Saints 5-2 at Wembley on Tuesday as they temporarily jumped up to fourth in the league standings.

Harry Kane wrote his name into the history books as he scored a stunning hat-trick to mean he ended 2017 with 39 Premier League goals, which saw him break Alan Shearer’s record.

Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son also netted for the hosts, while Sofiane Boufal and Dusan Tadic scored for the visitors.

The north London club are firmly in the hunt for the Champions League spots this year, but face seriousus competitions from the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Sky pundit Henry feels that Spurs will end up with a spot in the top four at the end of the season as they turned on the style against Southampton.

“I think they will be there in the end, they have too much quality. Yes I think they will be in the top four,” Henry told Sky Sports’ coverage of Spurs v Southampton.

OPINION

Spurs will have to fight until the end of the campaign to earn a Champions League spot, but there is a suggestion they are beginning to rediscover their top form. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been slightly under par so far this campaign as they have finished inside the top four for the last two consecutive seasons. However, with star forward Kane in such good form they will remain in the mix and it’s just a pity for them they seem unlikely to catch the two Manchester clubs in the top two positions. Spurs have the welcomed boost of Victor Wanyama just around the corner to help bolster their midfield and the enforcer will certainly improve their side with his physicality.
