Wonderkid Oliver Skipp has agreed the terms of a new contract with Tottenham, according to the Football Association.

New documents registered with the governing body show that the central midfielder, 17, signed a fresh deal with Spurs on 16 September.

There has been no announcement from Tottenham about a new contract for Skipp, who has a profile on the official Spurs website.

But paperwork on the official FA website shows that an agreement was reached for the  youngster to extend his association with Tottenham more than three months ago.

Skipp is highly regarded by the Spurs academy coaches, who see him as the next teen ace capable of progressing from the youth set-up and establishing himself in the first team like Harry Kane and Harry Winks.

The teenager has dominated older players at Under-19s and Under-23s levels this season and there is a growing feeling he could be the next star of the club’s impressive internal production line.

OPINION

This time last year, everyone was talking about Marcus Edwards behind the scenes at Spurs but the noise has quietened the noise around the 18-year-old following revelations about his attitude in Pochettino’s recently published book. Now, it is technically gifted and tenacious midfield anchorman Skipp who is the name on everyone’s lips. He played 18 games for Tottenham’s Under-18s last season and he even got on as a substitute for the Under-23s in February – all this while he was still a schoolboy. This season he has stepped again up to become a regular at Under-23 level and the overall impression is of a player who is mature beyond his years. A firm favourite of the club’s head of player development, John McDermott and Under-18s coach Scott Parker, Skipp only turned 17 in mid-September and, if he maintains his startling progress, seems destined for the Spurs senior side.
