Everton are interested in signing goalkeeper Roberto in January ,according to the Daily Mirror.
The newspaper claimed on its transfer news blog (5:24pm, Wednesday 20th) that the Toffees are keen on landing the 31-year-old, who is currently on loan at Malaga from Espanyol.
It is understood that the Merseyside club may need further back-up in goal as number one option Jordan Pickford is enduring a tough first season at Goodison Park.
The report details that Everton are interested in adding the La Liga shot-stopper in the New Year and that manager Sam Allardyce would welcome his experience.
Good move for Everton?
It doesn’t make much sense for Everton to pursue a goalkeeper in January as they already have Pickford, while Joel Robles is a strong understudy to have in the squad.
Roberto is currently fighting a relegation battle with Malaga in Spain and has enjoyed regular football by making 15 appearances.
The Spaniard was a number two goalkeeper for Espanyol last season and was shipped out on loan to give him the chance to play.
Everton certainly wouldn’t be significantly boosted by adding the £1million-rated goalkeeper and they look to strengthen other areas of the pitch instead.

Likely to happen?
Everton have yet to make an official approach to sign Roberto and there could be complications to complete a deal for the Espanyol goalkeeper, given he is currently out on loan this season.
He is the first-choice goalkeeper for La Liga outfit Malaga and it’s highly unlikely he would be able to force his way into a main role if he moved to England.
