Liverpool look set to miss out on Lazio enforcer Stefan De Vrij after he was the subject of a £25million bid from Serie A rivals Inter Milan, according to the Mirror.

The 25-year-old Dutch international has reportedly been on the Reds’ radar for over a year, and was seen as an alternative to compatriot Virgil Van Dijk.

The 6ft 2in centre-back has been a regular international for the Netherlands since the 2010 World Cup, and was handed his chance by former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.

He reportedly has no interest in leaving Italy for England.

Good move for Liverpool?

Well, it would have been.

De Vrij has been a rock at the back for Lazio in recent years, and it is no surprise to see Serie A leaders Inter come in with a big bid for him.

The Dutch international is just 25, after bursting onto the scene as a teenager in Brazil, and still has a long career ahead of him.

It looks like Liverpool’s search for a centre-back will continue however, with De Vrij showing no interest in a move to the Premier League.

Likely to happen?

Quite frankly, no.

De Vrij seems settled in Italy, and a move to Serie A Inter looks to be his next move.

It also would not be surprising to see him stay at Lazio, but a move to Liverpool looks pretty much off the cards.
