Allardyce: Everton gave Bournemouth the win

|

Sam Allardyce confessed that he was unimpressed with Everton’s performance against Bournemouth believing they handed their opposition the victory.

The Toffees slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth on Saturday causing their recent unbeaten streak to end.

The defeat was Allardyce’s first in charge of Everton after winning four of the seven games he had overseen ahead of playing Bournemouth.

However, despite it being his first set-back since taking over, the Everton boss didn’t hold back from condemning his side’s performance.

He told Sky Sports; “I feel disappointed because of the way we gave it away, really.

“We gave them the opportunity to score the winner even though it’s got a bad deflection and gone into the net. ”

Allardyce continued and moaned that his side had “gave too many simple balls away” and that his players didn’t showcase their “passing ability.”

With recent results being positive for the Toffees, Allardyce’s side have moved away from the relegation zone and into the top-half of the table.

Even though they lost to Bournemouth, Everton stay in the top ten, sitting ninth.

Opinion

Everton did not exactly dominate the game against Bournemouth, but it’s easy to understand Allardyce’s frustration. Since his arrival, he has created a much more disciplined Everton side than the one seen under Ronald Koeman in the first-half of the season, and for his side to make so many mistakes was shocking. In recent games, the Toffees have been pinpoint with their passes against teams like Liverpool and Chelsea but against Bournemouth they were sloppy, and now know they can’t get away with it. Everton need to get back to how they were in previous games under Allardyce if they want to be successful in their next game against Manchester United.
