Aston Villa midfielder Aaron Tshibola is set for another loan spell in January after the club were left disappointed by his shortened spell at MK Dons, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The newspaper claim that Tshibola, a £5million signing from Reading in the summer of 2016, will not be considered for first-team action by Steve Bruce, with Under-23 minutes even unlikely.

The Mail report that there are several interested parties, including several Scottish Premier League sides, with former manager Steve Clarke monitoring the situation at Kilmarnock.

The 22-year-old was loaned out to Milton Keynes for the season, but returned six months early after the club were disappointed by his work-rate.

The midfielder had only made 40 senior appearances – 17 at Reading and 23 at League Two Hartlepool – when Villa shelled out big money for his services.

OPINION

Tshibola has been a massive disappointment at Villa Park, but in fairness that is not all down to him. Eyebrows were raised when the club paid £5million for him, big money for a second-tier club for what was an unknown quantity. Villa paid that amount to fend off other competition, and have been ruing that decision ever since. However, there is obviously potential there, and the fact that Villa are not looking to ship him out permanently is a silver lining. Tshibola needs to make sure he gives his all during his next loan spell, or his time in the Championship could be coming to an end.
