Liverpool fans took to Twitter to lay into Loris Karius for his performance in their sensational 7-0 Champions League demolition of Spartak Moscow on Wednesday night.
The German was recalled to the starting XI as one of five changes from the side that thrashed Brighton 5-1 win at the weekend, as Jurgen Klopp continued his policy of rotating his goalkeepers between competitions.
Liverpool delivered a sensational attacking performance as their ‘Fab Four’ of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane put the Russia visitors to the sword as they qualified for the knockout stages as group winners in style.
A Coutinho hat-trick, a Mane double and strikes from Firmino and Salah decorated a memorable display from the home side to ease any fears about post-Christmas European football.
But Karius had a few hairy moments, particularly when he rushed 45 yards off his line at one point and did not get the ball, which prompted a deluge of criticism from Liverpool fans about his decision-making.

Couts is an amazing captain..great going forward, Still not too convinced about defence; karius seems a liability. Not worried Moreno off when Milner replaces.

Karius is just not a calming presence back there, is he? Panics like Mignolet does; puts the boot to it when under mild pressure, despite many options to retain possession. #LFC #LIV

I’m nervous every time Karius is forced to make a save. #LFC ????
