Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame is reportedly keen on a reunion with Steve Bruce – and the Aston Villa fans on Twitter have reacted badly on Twitter.
The Daily Mirror have reported in its print edition (Page 47, 13 November) that the 30-year-old is keen to work under manager Bruce once again, with the pair previously together at Hull.
It is understood that the central midfielder would be willing to leave St James’ Park during the January transfer window to join Villa.
Bruce is currently trying to get his side back into the Premier League and they are sixth in the Championship table, with an eye firmly on securing at least a play-off spot.
The Midlands giants are regarded as one of the biggest clubs in the division and do already have several star names in their squad.
However, Villa fans on social media are strongly against pursuing Diame from Premier League side Newcastle in the New Year as they feel they already have enough options in the centre of the park.

Diame did play an important role last season for Newcastle as they clinched the Championship title on the final day of the season.
He has been on the fringes of the squad since the return to the top flight and has mainly been used as a substitute by Benitez, perhaps forcing his hand into looking for a move away.
The Senegal international is renowned for being a powerhouse midfielder and his know-how of a Championship promotion race could come in handy, but Villa fans are certain they can cope without him.
