Tottenham are the latest club to have joined the race for striker Jann-Fiete Arp from German club Hamburg, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that Spurs have checked on the 17-year-old, while Juventus, Chelsea and Arsenal have had scouts watch him already this season.

It is understood that he is under contract with Hamburg until 2019 and the Bundesliga side are braced for firm interest in their rising academy star.

Arp has been in blistering goalscoring form of late, which included five goals in as many games for Germany’s Under-17s side during the World Cup in October.

The centre-forward was also in great touch form Hamburg’s youth side with seven goals in three games before being promoted to the first team.

He has featured three times at senior level for Hamburg this campaign and already scored two goals as his reputation continues to grow.

Good move Spurs?

Arp certainly ticks all the boxes in terms of a potential Spurs signing and he could be a great find by the Premier League side.

The young striker is proving his quality in front of goal and appears to be a natural finisher, something very difficult to find in most players.

Mauricio Pochettino has become an expert at promoting young talents and he could get the best out of Hamburg’s upcoming star.

Arp has begun to make an impact in the Bundesliga and they should make a quick move to sign him up if he continues to impress in the coming months.

The North London club are also still looking for a long-term understudy to Harry Kane and finding a young gem to learn from him could be a great combination.

Likely to happen?

Spurs have joined some big heavyweights in the race for Arp and they would face a big battle to secure his signature.

However, the forward is likely to move on from his currently club in the near future if his form continues and Pochettino’s side do present a great option for young talents.

The Mail reports that Arp models his game around England international Kane and a potential link up with him at Spurs could give them some leverage in a potential deal.
