Tottenham are interested in West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claims that Spurs are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old and that manager Mauricio Pocehttino is a big fan.

It is understood that he is on a £35,000-a-week deal with the Hammers and that their new boss David Moyes will be keen to build the team around him.

Lanzini’s contract is set to expire at the London Stadium in 2020 and West Ham are yet to secure a long-term deal.

The Argentinian playmaker is renowned for being a dead-ball specialist and is particularly lethal from free-kicks.

?Good move for Spurs?

Spurs could do with some extra depth to their squad to help them compete across the board for silverware and Lanzini could be a good addition.

The attacking midfielder usually thrives in the number 10 role, but also has the versatility to sit in the middle of the park.

He is a technically gifted player that has proven himself to be strong in the Premier League and could make a seamless switch across London.

Lanzini would not feature in Spurs’ best XI right now, but the 24-year-old still has time to improve and could flourish under a big move.

Likely to happen?

Lanzini is set to continue as a West Ham player for now, but he would almost certainly depart the London Stadium if they suffer relegation from the Premier League this season.

Pochettino’s firm interest suggest that Spurs will continue to chase the creative force as they feel he would fit in well to the side.

He does still have two-and-a-half years remaining on his Hammers deal and something drastic would need to happen to see him move to Spurs.
