Celtic came from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw against Motherwell on Wednesday night – and fans took to Twitter to slate the performance of Stuart Armstrong.
The attacking midfielder was named in the Hoops starting XI for the second of three fixtures against the Scottish Premiership’s fifth-placed side in the space of seven days.
But Armstrong lasted only 73 minutes before he was replaced by Scott Sinclair with the score locked at 0-0.
Mikael Lustig’s own goal five minutes later threatened to end Celtic’s unbeaten domestic run before Sinclair took advantage of a controversial penalty decision by referee Willie Collum to convert the spot-kick and seal a 1-1 draw.
It was the closest Celtic have come to defeat since their last loss to Scottish opponents – against St Johnstone – back in May 2016.
But that did not prevent supporters criticising some of the underwhelming performances from the players at Parkhead, with fingers pointed on social media at playmaker Armstrong, who has struggled to match his performances of 2016-17 when Celtic strolled to the treble.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
We have been mince for a good month or so not I reckon with some really dodgy performances, particularly at home, Sinclair Dembele Roberts Armstrong etc really need to start showing up again.

Him, Sinclair and Armstrong are really struggling for any kind of form at the moment. Still has it in him for a wonder goal – almost last night!

Much improvement is needed. Looking at guys like Sinclair, Armstrong and Forrest (to an extent) who need to contribute more. Teams have worked us out somewhat and we need to get a step ahead again. Games like tonight show how impressive this run is

Can see it’s clearly on Sinclair and Armstrong’s minds. Not as effective as last season

Too many in midfield not doing it esp Armstrong and Rogic. That’s why McGregor is playing so often and having him as a winger tonight was just plain wrong.

There’s a lot more of those uninspiring games this season leading to draws. Would like to see us sing a real quality midfielder to play ahead of McGregor or Armstrong
