Moyes held discussions with senior trio to solve West Ham issues

|

New West Ham United manager David Moyes reportedly held discussions with three of the club’s senior players in his bid to get things back on track.

The Sunday Times claims that Moyes spoke to captain Mark Noble, Andy Carroll and summer signing Pablo Zabaleta during his first three days at the East London club.

The newspaper reports that the new boss was delighted with the trio’s “appetite to turn things round” and they are revealed that players are willing to work hard during the training sessions.

All three players have been important members of the first-team this season but they have all struggled to deliver good performances on a consistent basis.

Moyes is reportedly delighted to hear that the West Ham squad have “locked the dressing-room door and held their own inquest in the wake of defeats.”

The Hammers are currently sitting in the relegation zone with the worst defensive record in the Premier League which ultimately led to the sacking of Slaven Bilic.

After the international break, West Ham face a difficult trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford in a must-not-lose match.

OPINION

This is a very shrewd move for the new West Ham boss and he is surely trying not to rock the boat and enforce too much change at the club despite their poor start to the campaign. It must be encouraging for Moyes to hear that the players are on board to intense training sessions as they look to climb up the table and steer themselves away from the relegation zone. After successfully talking to the senior players at the club, Moyes might be wise to meet up with the supporters in order to ensure them that he is the right man for the job as many were fairly uninspired when he was announced as the new man in charge.
