Tottenham fans took to Twitter to lay into Harry Kane after he laboured through the team’s 2-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal on Saturday.
The Spurs striker was hauled off after 75 minutes of the Emirates Stadium clash as part of a double substitution along with the equally ineffective Dele Alli.
Arsenal completely dominated the match and first-half goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez secured the three points and drew them to within one point of third-placed Spurs in the table.
It was the second consecutive match in which Kane was withdrawn with quarter of an hour remaining after he struggled with a hamstring problem before the international break that forced him out of England’s friendlies against Brazil and Germany.
Mauricio Pochettino had revealed at his media briefing on Thursday that the striker, 24, had only returned to training that day and said he faced a fitness test before the derby.
Nevertheless, few expected the Tottenham talisman to be so far off the pace and many supporters were calling for Kane to be taken off long before the manager replaced him with Fernando Llorente.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
Why are people annoyed about Kane going off he’s looked awful today, genuinely looks like he wasn’t ready

Tottenham were awful today, got bullied at times, Kane was far from fit and Alli was ghosting but Arsenal were brilliant, barely gave them a second on the ball, so refreshing to see Ozil produce in a big game too, Mike Dean was poor but what’s new, thoroughly deserved

Kane has looked off the pace so understand him coming off, but Dele? #COYS

Kane has to come off simply not fit. When you see him pulling out of challenges it sets the the tone for others to do the same #THFC #COYS

Winks should have started. Kane shouldn’t have. #COYS #THFC

This is the worst I have seen us play in so long. Our play is either press from the front which we can’t do when Kane isn’t running or counter which we can’t do when we can’t string 3 passes together #coys
