Tottenham fans went berserk on Twitter on Wednesday after Danny Rose said he was “fuming” to be omitted from their squad for the north London derby.
Rose gave an interview to Sky Sports in the aftermath of Spurs’ 2-1 Champions League win at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night in which he admitted he was very unhappy at his weekend axe.
Rose was not even named on the bench for Saturday’s defeat to Arsenal as Pochettino felt he would be better off doing a fitness session at the club’s training ground.
The move prompted renewed speculation surrounding the future of the defender, who had to apologise in August after suggesting he would be open to leaving Spurs.
“My reaction was I was fuming, I was angry, but understanding at the same time,” Rose said to Sky Sports. “There’s been no bust-up, there’s been no argument, there’s been no falling out. The manager just explained that he thought it’d be better for me to do a hard session on Saturday, which I did.
Rose played the full 90 minutes as Spurs came from a goal down to beat Dortmund and progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League as winners of their group.
But a section of Tottenham fans were furious at the left-back’s latest candid interview, with some calling for him to be sold by the club.

I’d find it refreshing if he played for another club. I think it’s an unacceptable display of indiscipline… again. Pochettino won’t be thrilled, I’m sure, particularly after having to answer questions on it at the weekend.

What’s worrying is whether he’s responding to the journo using “fuming” or whether it’s his own word. If it’s the latter, that article by the Sun seems to have been tipped off by something…?

The fact that he had a good game at Dortmund shows it was correct decision fuming probably the wrong word to use though I would of said frustrated

Rose’s candidness is refreshing but these frequent admissions that he struggles to stay levelled when not picked don’t make him look great. https://t.co/lc3aFTM0iY
