Alan Shearer has criticised Tottenham pair Dele Alli and Davinson Sanchez for their roles in conceding against West Brom.

Spurs could only manage a 1-1 home draw in the Premier League at the weekend and were saved by a Harry Kane strike in the second-half.

However, they were behind after just four minutes when Salomon Rondon gave the visitors a surprise lead at Wembley.

The powerful centre-forward shrugged off defender Sanchez in the penalty area before calmly finishing past Hugo Lloris.

BBC pundit Shearer is convinced the Spurs centre-back could have done better to dispossess Rondon, while he also picked out the role of Alli in the build up to the goal.

The midfielder was caught in possession just inside his own half and their opponents countered on them from that position to score.

“When they conceded the goal Dele Alli is sloppy, wants too much time on the ball. Livermore wins it and plays a good ball into Rondon, who is strong and quick,” Shearer said on BBC One programme Match of the Day.

“But I still think Sanchez can do a lot better there, you can see he is angry with himself and he actually miskicks it.”

OPINION

Spurs were not quite at the race against West Brom on Saturday and individual errors did cost them a goal. Alli was dropped into a central-midfield role and losing the ball in that area of the pitch proved costly, with the Englishman used to being further up the pitch. Meanwhile, Sanchez has looked brilliant for the majority of the campaign since his arrival and will be disappointed to be shrugged off the ball by Rondon. However, the West Brom striker is a powerhouse with experience and it shows that the Spurs centre-back still has some learning to do despite big praise from manager Mauricio Pochettino recently.
