Matt Le Tissier has included Tottenham pair Jan Vertognhen and Harry Kane in his Premier League team of the season so far.

The Sky Sports pundit has selected his best XI after the opening 11 league games as domestic football takes a break for the internationals.

Defender Vertonghen and prolific striker Kane have been named after their impressive starts to the campaign.

Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, David Silva and Sergio Aguero are the five representatives from undefeated table toppers Manchester City.

Manchester United duo David De Gea and Nemanja Matic are included, while Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta and Burnley’s James Tarkowski complete the XI.

Vertonghen, 30, has played every minute of the league so far and is an ever-present in the resilient Spurs defence.

The centre-back thrives as the left-sided defender of a back three and has been arguably the club’s most consistent players this campaign.

Kane has also been in brilliant form as he chases a third straight Premier League golden boot.

The 24-year-old forward has scored an impressive eight goals in 10 league games and is joint at the top of the scoring charts with Aguero.

OPINION

Both Vertonghen and Kane are worth picks in Le Tissier’s team of the season so far, but some Spurs fans will be questioning the omission of playmaker Christian Eriksen. The 25-year-old is a key player for Mauricio Pocehttino’s side and has started in every league game so far. He has chipped in with three goals and three assists so far, while also becoming a real driving force for his team. Eriksen is continuing to improve each season and is one of the most inventive players in English football.
