Craig Bellamy has raved about Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen and has admitted he can see him ending up at either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

The 25-year-old has become a key player for Spurs since his arrival in 2013 from Ajax.

The attacking midfielder is an ever-present in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI and is the creative force in the final third.

He has scored four goals and supplied four assists in 15 games this campaign, but still has a long way to match his tally of 23 assists for last season.

English pair Harry Kane and Dele Alli often take most of the plaudits in the Spurs team, but the Denmark international is just as integral to their success.

Sky Sports pundit Bellamy has spoken very highly of Eriksen, but has suggested that he could leave Spurs to join a European heavyweight.

The North London club have lost the likes of Gareth Bale and Luka Madrid in the past to Real Madrid, but are hoping to keep

“I remember him at Ajax and I always felt that he had the ability to go on to Barcelona, he is that type of player, like Modric when he was at Zagreb and he was able to come over to Spurs,” Bellamy told Sky Sports’ programme The Debate (broadcast on 8 November).

“I’d just seen that as a similar move. I can see him being at Spurs for a certain period and then Real Madrid or Barcelona because I believe his quality is that high.

“Spurs are on a different path now compared to where they’ve been in recent years so they might be able to prevent that.”

OPINION

Eriksen is continuing to light up the Premier League and it would be no surprise to see Spanish giants move for him in the near future. He still has room to improve at the age of 25 and the creative force is good enough to play for any team in the world. However, the midfielder is so crucial to the Spurs set-up and it would be extremely difficult to replace him. Spurs are looking to finally get over the line in terms of winning silverware and losing Eriksen would send out completely the wrong message.
