Tottenham ace Dele Alli has been ruled out against Crystal Palace with a hamstring injury, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the 21-year-old playmaker is expected to be sidelined on Sunday for Spurs’ home match against London rivals Palace in the Premier League.

Sun correspondent Mike McGrath reported on his personal Twitter account that the attacking midfielder will be unavailable to Mauricio Pochettino at the weekend.

It is understood that he will be treated during the upcoming international break and miss friendlies against Germany and Brazil.

The report details that Alli now has a race on his hands to be back in time for the huge North London derby with Arsenal on 18 November.

OPINION

Alli’s absence against Palace will be a huge blow given the late withdrawal from the side, but Pochettino should still have enough in his team to put away bottom of the league. The Englishman would have been in red-hot form after his heroics against Real Madrid and appeared to be getting back to his best. However, Alli is now set for yet another halt in what has been a frustrating start to the season for him. His reported two-week absence means he will miss friendlies with England, but for Spurs fans they will be pleased that he will not face a lengthy absence from their club games. Alli faces a desperate battle to get back to full fitness in time for the North London derby though, which is arguably their biggest game of the season.
