Manchester United have made the decision to sell Luke Shaw in the January window only weeks after he agreed a contract extension, according to the Times.
The newspaper claim that the Premier League giants want to offload the England international for about £20million as soon as the winter window opens.
The Times report that United are not interested in a loan move for Shaw as they eye a permanent transfer for a player that manager Jose Mourinho does not want.
It is said that United activated the clause that extended Shaw’s contract by one year until 2019 just weeks ago so they could get a fee for him in January.
Left-back Shaw has made just two substitute appearances for United this season and has been regularly criticised over the last 12 months by Mourinho, who has questioned his fitness, attitude and understanding of the game.

Finding a buyer for Shaw will not be easy, especially if the 22-year-old holds out for a club who can match his £130,000-a-week United wages. Tottenham have been strongly linked with Shaw after his excellent form under Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton, but the Londoners already have two top-class left-backs in fit-again Danny Rose and Ben Davies. Instead, the defender should look to a club where he could hope to play regularly. Everton would represent a brilliant option for Shaw to resurrect his career, assuming that the new manager is a fan. With Leighton Baines aged 32 and showing clear signs of decline, Shaw could get his career back on track by making the short journey to Goodison Park. In turn, the left-sided dazzler could spend his peak years with the Toffees.
